Kraft Macaroni and Cheese with Broccoli and Mushrooms

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese with Broccoli and Mushrooms

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is such a great comfort food.  But why wait till that one day you want to just sit and pamper yourself with a creamy, cheesy bowl.  You can make a great throw together meal any night with Kraft Macaroni and Cheese with Broccoli and Mushrooms.

There are so many choices of favorite Kraft  macaroni and cheese.  I chose the white cheddar, but the recipe below will work with any kind you like.

I also chose broccoli and my main vegetable.  I love broccoli, but so many people also love a cheesy broccoli and I thought this would be the perfect choice.  But, if you don’t like broccoli, throw in a vegetable of your choice.  I think green beans would be good and I also love spinach in just about anything.  Even cauliflower or Brussels sprouts would be great.

I had my husband grill some chicken to make this a complete meal with protein.  You may prefer to have it with steak or even sausage.  Or, if you’re vegetarian, serve it with tofu on the side or cube it and toss it all together.Call to Action

This was such a simple and delicious meal that I can’t wait to make it again.  I want to try it with sun-dried tomatoes.  I think it would add an extra “zing” to the dish.

  1. I love your version Sylvia … my kids likes the macaroni and cheese sooo much … I’ve been trying to giive them a healthier version- like homemade baked one- but they did not like it:( I will try yours with broccoli and I hope they will eat the broccoli and not leaving it out … thanks for sharing.

    • Hi! Amira –
I have found with my nieces and nephews that sometimes just the mention of the word turns them off. Maybe tell them you’re making macaroni and cheese with little trees and magic mushrooms. If they won’t eat mushrooms, carrot swords or at the last minute before serving, toss in some cherry tomatoes and make up a crazy word for them. Kids like fun food. Hope it works for you.

  2. What a lovely way to jazz up ordinary mac and cheese (which we always have in the pantry)! Love the addition of broccoli and mushrooms!

    • Thanks, Liz. It was fun to be apart of Chef Dennis’ Kraft and Cracker Barrel challenge on Google+. I don’t usually use packaged foods, but always like to keep a box of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese in the pantry for a quick throw together meal. We liked this one so much that I’ll definitely be doing it again. Next time I’ll spice it up a little. I’m on a cayenne pepper kick these days. Ha!

  3. You have a great way of presenting dishes. I like your ideas and methodology. I would love to read a blog post on how you come up with these ideas.

    • This dish was for a challenge on Google+ with Chef Dennis. We were to use Kraft Mac & Cheese or Cracker Barrel cheese and create a recipe. I already had the mac & cheese so I threw some broccoli in to make it a little more nutritious and, of course, for color. As far as a blog post about how I come up with these ideas, I’m not sure…. I just check my cupboards and refrigerator/freezer and decide what I’m in the mood for and also what I think my husband won’t complain too much about. LOL He’s pretty easy to please when it comes to food.
